First He Destroyed the Army. Now Pashinyan Wants To Destroy The Armenian Apostolic Church
Back in February 2021, in response to criticisms, made by the top brass of The Armenian Armed Forces, that he badly mismanaged the 44-Day War, PM Pashinyan accused the Army’s leadership of plotting a “Military Coup D'état” to topple his government. For more details consult the following article:

More than a dozen high-ranking officers were arrested by the National Security Service of Armenia (NSS), and when the prosecution failed to provide any evidence linking arrested Army officers to the “Coup”, the allegations changed, and different charges were laid, such as bribery, abuse of authority, dereliction of duty, etc...
Fast forward to June 2025, the same accusations were recycled to target The Armenian Apostolic Church, an institution that has defied the policies of PM Pashinyan and accused him of leading the country to the brink of a disaster that will annihilate the Armenian State and nation.
Many clerics were arrested this week by the NSS and accused of plotting a violent overthrow of the Pashinyan regime. What is the nature of the evidence used by the prosecutors to tie more than 14 figures (religious and civilians) to the alleged plot?
a) A seven-page handwritten document detailing the plan to be adopted by the 14 conspirators on a specific date. The only question with this piece of evidence is the date. It was intentionally redacted/concealed by the prosecution.
Photographs and statements released by the (NSS) to pro-Pashinyan media outlets clearly promote the narrative that the coup was planned for the end of this year (2025) to disrupt the elections scheduled for June 2026. The redacted original version refers to the period of June-September of last year (2024).
b) No forensic evidence was produced matching the hand-written seven-page document to a specific person in the group of the 14 accused who were arrested and are currently in pre-trial detention.
c) NSS produced an audio recording, allegedly connected to Bagrat Serpazan, suggesting to his followers violent actions ranging from civil disobedience to acts of terrorism. The quality of the recording is very poor, and one cannot dismiss the possibility that it was a doctored version of something said by Bagrat Serpazan but altered after the fact by using AI softwares.
d) NSS agents proudly released to the media photos of weapons seized, including spent shotguns shells, from the residences of the arrested conspirators. No matter how many times, at the arresting stage, the accused conspirators pointed out that the weapons discovered are “Legally Registered Firearms”, without tracing their origins and verifying the claims of the owners, the NSS was very quick in disseminating the photos to pro-Pashinyan media outlets.
In a moment of “Selective Amnesia”, NSS decision makers conveniently forgot that their boss, the “Manchurian Candidate” in The Office of The Prime Minister of Armenia ammended the gun ownership laws of Armenia in mid-2022. The amendment proposal was titled:
ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ
ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅԱՆ
ՕՐԵՆՔԸ
ԶԵՆՔԻ ՇՐՋԱՆԱՌՈՒԹՅԱՆ ԿԱՐԳԱՎՈՐՄԱՆ ՄԱՍԻՆ
Պ-237-18.04.2022-ՊԱ-011/0
The amendment was approved by the National Assembly of Armenia, and allowed Armenian citizens the purchase of up to 10 firearms, including assault rifles with limited bullet magazine capacity, once the licensing requirements are met by an interested party. In other words, in a country where the possession of up to 10 firearms is allowed, finding a dozen of weapon in a group of 14 conspirators is not a huge quantity of weapons gathered for the purpose of overthrowing a regime.
e) In an attempt to dramatize the arrest of 14 conspirators, the NSS intentionally portrayed the severity of what was allegedly intended (overthrowing the Pashinyan government) as identical to the the armed assault made on the Armenian National Assembly on 27 October 1999. Again, conveniently the NSS forgot that the 1999 assault generated 8 deaths, and the analogy used is strictly a theatrical attempt designed to destroy the reputation of the Armenian Apostolic Church by attaching the label of a terrorist to the name of Bagrat Serpazan and all the other clerics who supported his movement known as “Serpazan Baykar.”
One unavoidably wonders if the so-called terrorists were determined to overthrow the government and incite violence against State institutions, why no attempt was made, prior and after the arrests, to beef up security measures at the National Assembly, Nikol’s residence, Zvartnots Airport, subway stations, etc…
Now, how much more do I have to say to convince a reader that the show orchestrated by Nikol is rooted in instructions received from Baku and Ankara, following the Bern Switzerland meeting where the Apostolic Church advocated in an international forum the right of all Artsakhtsis in Armenia to return to their ancestral land, where they were subjected to an “Ethnic Cleansing” by Aliyev’s army back in September 2023.
What the Church did in Bern Switzerland was very humiliating for Pashinyan desperately trying to please Aliyev for a “Peace Accord” that legitimizes the fate of all the Artsakhtsis currently living in Armenia, by creating a “Real Armenia” where Armenians are overruled by 300,000 “Western Azerbaijanis”, where Armenians are deprived of Armenia, and Armenia is deprived of Armenians.
Remember, Armenian academics labelled Nikol as
“Loyal servant of the interests of Ankara and Baku, and also the humble enabler of “The Greater Turan” dream (Pan-Turkism)."
